How to spring clean and get organized at the same damn time!

Spring is here and with it comes new beginnings.

New beginnings are usually celebrated at the top of the year, in the middle of winter when most living things are at rest. If you are like me, the whole ‘New Year, New Me’ just doesn't resonate with my desire to start fresh. However, when the spring time hits, I am gung ho to shed that lethargic winter energy and start preparing for the fresh Spring season ahead.

Spring cleaning and getting organized can be a daunting task, but with the right approach it can be a breeze. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

  • Take a look at the areas of your home that you want to tackle.

  • Divide the tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks. For instance, dedicate one day or one weekend each to decluttering and organizing the kitchen, living room, bedroom and so on.

  • Move things out of the room before you clean it and return only the things that belong in there.

  • Make sure to go through all of your stuff, and get rid of anything you don’t need or have not used in over a year. You can always donate the items or host a flea market.

  • Once you’ve decluttered, create a system for organizing the items you want to keep. For instance, you can invest in storage bins and baskets to store items in an orderly manner. Additionally, you can use labels to help you keep track of different items.

  • Finally, to keep your space looking neat and clean, make sure to regularly tidy your home. Vacuum, dust, and wipe surfaces on a weekly basis.

  • With this approach, you can easily keep your home clean and organized all year round!

P.S.-If you want to take your spring cleaning to another level, you can add in a personal cleanse. This may consist of making changes to your diet, starting or reviving a daily spiritual practice, cutting down on your social media use, or re-evaluating relationships that are not fulfilling. Decluttering is significant to your mental health. Being mindful of what you take in physically, spiritually and mentally can open your self-awareness and invigorate your purpose. Clearing out the unhealthy foods, the time-sucking activities, and the relationships that aren’t supportive to your ongoing evolution can be so rewarding.
